What We Treat

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

OCD isn’t just about being tidy or liking things a certain way. Sometimes it’s the exhausting loop of unwanted thoughts, rituals you can’t skip, or the quiet fear that things will spiral if you don’t get it “just right.”

Understanding OCD

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) can take many forms, but the common thread is this: it takes up space in your mind and life, often in ways others can’t see or understand.

At PSI, we offer structured, science-backed care for people living with OCD, whether you’re feeling stuck, cautiously exploring options, or simply looking for some relief that lasts.

OCD affects approximately 1 in 100 adults in the U.S., with symptoms often emerging in adolescence or early adulthood. While it affects people of all genders and identities, it can show up in different ways — from intrusive thoughts to ritualistic behaviors — and disrupt daily life, work, and relationships.

Standard treatment typically includes a combination of medication and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), especially Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). For many, these approaches help, but not always fully. And for some, side effects or limited relief lead to frustration, numbness, or resignation.

We’re here to support the next step—whether that’s deepening your current care or exploring new options grounded in science and compassion.

Typical symptoms of OCD can include:

Intrusive ideas, images, or urges that cause distress

Repetitive behaviors performed in attempts to reduce anxiety or get things “just right”

Fear of contamination, harming others, or losing control

Excessive cleaning, checking, or reviewing previously completed actions or thoughts

How PSI Approaches OCD

We know that compulsions are more than just quirks or something to cross off of a checklist. We understand that OCD is deeply personal: often isolating, sometimes invisible, and always more painful than what people assume.

At PSI and TRIP Clinics, our approach is grounded in both science and empathy. You’ll find:

  • Clear, honest communication - you’ll know exactly what to expect before making any decisions
  • Licensed clinicians with specialized training in trauma-informed care, psychedelic-assisted therapy, and anxiety-spectrum conditions like OCD
  • Science-backed protocols informed by decades of clinical work in psychiatry, psychology, and neuroscience
  • Ongoing leadership in innovative treatment and research, helping shape the future of anxiety spectrum disorders such as OCD through FDA-guided psychedelic clinical trials

OCD can be relentless. And you can’t navigate it alone. We’re here to offer new tools, real support, and a treatment plan that honors your story.

Ketamine-assisted Psychotherapy

Ketamine can help loosen the grip of obsessive thoughts by enhancing neuroplasticity — the brain’s ability to change and form new connections. When paired with therapy, it can open a window for insight and healing.

  • Administered by licensed clinicians in combination with psychotherapy
  • Includes preparatory and integration time to help you process, explore and reflect on your experiences
  • Collaborative treatment planning tailored to your needs

Clinical Trials

We conduct industry-sponsored trials with psychedelic medicines such as psilocybin, LSD and MDMA. We do not currently have any open trials for patients with OCD, but we hope to in the near future.

FAQs About OCD

What causes OCD?

There’s no single cause. OCD may involve brain chemistry, genetics, learned behaviors, or environmental triggers. Stressful events can also play a role.

Can psychedelic therapy cure OCD?

There’s no "cure," but psychedelic-assisted therapy may reduce symptom intensity, improve mood, and create space for change. It’s not for everyone, which is why we offer free 15 min consultations to address your questions prior to treatment.

Is ketamine safe for OCD?

Ketamine has shown promise in reducing OCD symptoms in clinical studies, especially when combined with therapy. At PSI, it’s administered in a therapeutic setting by experienced mental health professionals.

Will insurance cover treatment?

There is no insurance accepted at PSI currently. Payment is due at time of service. Please bring your payment with you to your appointment. We’ll walk you through costs clearly.
